The Buddy Update is upon us! Today, Pokemon GO updated to version 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS. The highlight of the update is that the Buddy system is live! Niantic Labs posted the entire changelog on their website if you want to take a look. Also, we’ve included the entire update details below.

According to the changelog, trainers will earn candy as they walk long distances with their current buddy. If there are any other benefits, they either aren’t in the game yet or aren’t included here. Of course, the update also makes a few tweaks to fix a few annoyances. These include making it easier to tap a small Pokemon on the map. The big downside to this update is that jailbroken iPhones and rooted android devices are no longer allowed to run Pokemon GO.
