Pokemon GO has often been criticized for causing accidents. On rare occasions, players have fallen, been mugged, and caused car accidents. By far, society’s biggest concern has been the latter. Drivers playing Pokemon GO are just as or more than distracted than texting. To combat the concern, Niantic has implemented in-game warnings against playing while driving. However, some reports have come in saying they may be doing more.
The reports claim that Pokemon stop spawning at vehicle speeds. That way, anyone moving at around 20 mph won’t be able to catch anything at all. Of course, this brings up a new problem. Given, many drivers have played Pokemon GO, but what about passengers? A sizable portion of the commuting public either carpool or take public transportation everywhere. And if the can’t catch Pokemon GO on the long commute to work, what are they supposed to do? Read?
It’s important to mention that Niantic Labs haven’t mentioned this feature in any patch notes. As of now, it is unsure whether these accounts are because of glitches or anything else. Until such information is released, maybe we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
