We’ve all been seeing it everywhere lately. It’s impossible to miss. You can’t even type the words “Pokemon GO” in Google without seeing it. News outlets all over the place are reporting on the death of Pokemon GO. And I mean it’s everywhere! At first thought, you could think it’s all over for Niantic’s hit game.
As we’ve said before, a mobile game’s success isn’t determined by sheer downloads. The most successful mobile games out there stay on top by consistently appealing to an incredibly small percentage of its peak player base. Also, there’s another thing some of these articles fail to mention. The initial rush to catch all the Pokemon around may have declined, sure. But many players have begun playing Pokemon GO more casually. This helps ingrain the game as a part of typical life. But even if that starts to slip away, there will most definitely be a new call to action for the player base when new Pokemon flood the streets in future updates.
