We know Pokemon trading is coming. We don’t know when. We don’t know how. But we know it’s coming. There’s no doubt about that. But what if there’s more to trading than just Pokemon? Well, there’s a rumor for that. The word around the internet is that maybe Niantic will soon allow players to trade items as well as Pokemon. While that is far from confirmed, it would open a lot of doors.
Given, perhaps such a system could help you unload your surplus of potions. However, that probably wouldn’t be it’s main purpose. If item trading does exist, it may tag along with the “Buddy Pokemon” update coming: specifically letting your Buddy hold a single item. This concept has been around in the core games since Gold and Silver. This would serve two purposes. The first is that certain items could be added into the game that give a bonus while held by a Pokemon. The second is trading related. In the later games, when certain Pokemon hold certain items during a trade, the Pokemon in question evolves a specific way. Other than that, there is no way to gain that evolution.
I’m not saying item trading is coming to the game. Since such a thing hasn’t even been hinted at by Niantic, I won’t assume anything at all. However, the rumor is still around. And it’s hard to deny the benefits it could bring to Pokemon GO.
