Working Hard
Niantic just released Gen 2 Evolution items, and now they’re teasing an event. Someone’s not going on vacation anytime soon.
It was at the DICE Awards, when Pokemon Go won the Best Mobile Game, that a member of the team told fans to save their in-game candy. Now, rumors are circulating that this might be a teaser for another double XP event.
How Likely Is The Event?
There’s a pattern at work here. Halloween was a double candy event. Thanksgiving and Valentine’s day were also double candy. UK’s Express goes into the pattern detail:
“Halloween (double candy) -> Thanksgiving (double xp) -> Christmas/New Year (Special. Santachu + increased Kanto starter spawn rate) -> Valentine’s (double candy) -> ? Event (double xp) -> Easter (Special. Increased 10 km egg drop rate?”
This means if there’s an event prior to Easter, then something might happen for St. Patrick’s Day. Perhaps even Mother’s Day.
Currently
In the meantime, however, there’s another celebration to be had. Pokemon is turning 21, and there’s fresh content everywhere. From marathons on Twitch, to party hats on Pikachu, The Pokemon Company is going big. That means from now until March 6 whenever you encounter a wild Pikachu, it will be wearing a party hat! As if they weren’t cute enough already.
Pokemon TV will also be providing free Pokemon movies beginning today. Among the selections, Pokemon: The First Movie, also known as the saddest one, will be available. Word of warning, if you do watch, keep a box of tissues on hand. Oh, and invest in cute Pokemon inspired treats.
