We previously reported that Lucky Pokémon have made their way to Pokémon Go. The feature was then delayed due to technical complications. Fortunately, the delay is over and the Lucky Pokémon are live!
Lucky Pokémon were a new variation of Pokémon that would cost less Stardust to level up. The only way to find a Lucky Pokémon was to trade for one with another player. The trading process has a chance of adding this new trait. The longer the original owner had the Pokémon, the more likely it would be Lucky.
Data miners were the first to discover this new variation, a few days before Niantic would formally announce the new feature. Despite having updated their mobile apps, players were noticing a lack of Lucky Pokémon. This prompted Niantic to announce that all Lucky Pokémon would be delayed until “Pokémon Go has been updated for all users.”
Now, a bit later, Lucky Pokémon have been confirmed in the game. Reports are coming up that players are being given Lucky Pokémon in trades. These Pokémon have a golden background, are marked separately in the Pokédex, and cost half as much stardust to level up.
