You’d think with all the winter wonderland and happy gift giving, it’d be a peaceful, wholesome time in the land of Pokémon GO. You’d also be wrong. Deoxys is back, and it’s here to wreak some havoc on our poor, carbon-based lives. How are we so sure? Because it’s in Attack Form.

Deoxys originates as a space virus that crashed to Earth from a meteor. After exposer to a laser beam, it underwent a sudden mutation, becoming Deoxys. Highly intelligent and capable of psychokinetic abilities, it’s central brain appears to be the crystalline organ in its chest. It’s known to alter its form to best fit the situation.

The first time Pokémon GO met Deoxys was in EX Raid battles not long ago. There we saw it in it’s “normal forme.” Now it’s back in it’s powerful “attack forme.” This means it’ll be more susceptible to damage, but will deal out a whole lot more as well.

According to a recent announcement by Niantic, Attack Forme Deoxys will start appearing in invitation-based EX Raid battles as soon as December 20. You can qualify for an invitation by completing a Raid Battle at a qualifying Gym, which you can distinguish via the tag in the Gym details.

Niantic recommending bringing a friend with you, since this will be one of the harder battles you’ll ever encounter.
