Last November, we covered the story of Vinnie Mannino. He was the Winston-Salem man who was attacked and hospitalized while playing Pokemon GO alone. After the tragic attack, Mannino was unconscious for about 4 hours before being found. He then spent a lot of time in the hospital, from the ICU to the floor dedicated to brain injuries. At the time, doctors weren’t confident that Mannino would be able to fully recover from the brutal attack. They figured he would get better, but no one was certain that he’d ever be the same.
The good news is that Mannino is out of the hospital and recovering at home. Many of his scars have started to heal, but he still has to walk with a cane. Fox 8 reports that the 39-year-old Pokemon GO player feels that his mind doesn’t work as quickly as before. However, there is still time for him to heal and get better. So far, Mannino has recovered better than expected. So here’s hoping that trend continues.
Mannino claims that he still plays Pokemon GO despite the attack. That’s not surprising, especially seeing that the Pokemon GO community stood up to help Mannino through this tough time. It’s hard to turn away from something like that.
