Niantic has recently unveiled new plans to celebrate Pokemon Go’s one year anniversary, which includes new ads and Pokestops in three major cities. Right now, these cities are limited to Tokyo, London, and New York. If you live in any of these cities, you may have noticed all the new ads around your area. These billboards show stats for the cities and include things like how players in New York catch over 16 million Pokemon daily, or how in London over 354 Mr. Mime were caught.
If you go near these billboards, you will notice that they have been transformed into brand new Pokestop locations, rewarding players for visiting Niantic’s ad locations. Although these three cities are the only ones in the world that have these new ads, Niantic has announced that they’re planning on expanding around the world to include new cities in the near future.
This seems to all be a part of Niantic’s big summer plans, which is being arranged to bring back players that have given up on Pokemon Go. In addition to the first ever live event that will be in Chicago soon, they are also saying that a gym rework is currently being developed, as well as other collaborative gameplay features. We aren’t sure what this means yet, but you can expect some new updates to be rolling in the next few weeks.
