We are officially looking at what might be the first legendary battle in Pokemon Go history. In Japan, they are having an entire week dedicated to the Pikachu Outbreak event, which will be occurring August 9 through August 15. On August 14, there will be a free event held in Yokohama Stadium in Japan. While we can’t confirm that this will in fact be the first legendary Raid battle of all time, it certainly seems like it will be. For example, Niantic has let the people know that if they plan on attending this event, they should make sure their account is at least level 5.
Level 5 is the point where you can pick your team, fight in gyms, and engage in Raids. This leaves me thinking two things. Either this is going to be a legendary Raid for everybody in the stadium to fight over, or Niantic is going to be releasing their player vs player system. Maybe you need to be level 5 in order to PvP, seeing as how that is the level requirement for gyms. We just don’t know yet.
If this were to be the first legendary Raid, the players will probably be facing off against Mewtwo. While it doesn’t really make a ton of sense, seeing as how he is the most powerful Pokemon according to lore, Niantic has been showing off a lot of Mewtwo in their ads and trailers. It wouldn’t surprise me if some of those lucky attendees ended up walking away with a stacked Mewtwo in their PokeTeam. We’re going to find out plenty of new information next month, so stay tuned for now and keep leveling up!
