The unprecedented growth and popularity of Pokemon GO has been both vilified and embraced. Businesses everywhere are taking advantage of Pokemon GO with promotions and special events. Among these is the Colonie Center mall in Albany, New York. The mall staff has erected an unofficial Pokemon Gym in its halls. It is complete with a poke ball floor graphic, posters, and team banners for Mystic, Valor, and Instinct.

How much do you want to bet there’s still a Magikarp as the gym leader?

It is unsure why the most prominent flag of the three is for Team Valor. Then again, I’m sure plenty of fans will read enough into it for all of us. Of course, there isn’t anything special about the area other than the decor. It is clearly a way for the mall to gain publicity for the massive Pokemon GO population. But in the end, that’s just smart business.
