Pokemon merchandise is a huge business as you could imagine, and like most popular franchise’s, there are plenty of plush Pokemon toys and pillows. A popular style of Pokemon pillow is a guling pillow. A guling pillow is basically a cylindrical bolster pillow which just so happens to be very popular in Indonesia. This style of pillow has been all fine and dandy until the latest Squirtle guling pillow went on the market in Indonesia.

It started off with a social media posting by a Japenese web user named all_nations2 claiming that the pillow is “obscene”. The fact that this pillow is meant for a child makes it somewhat questionable, as I think it’s safe to assume it looks pretty similar to the tip of a penis, but in reality, is it really phallic looking, or are people just sexualizing a pillow? The pillow is apparently an officially licensed Pokemon product, and its purpose its described as “accompanying your child when they rest”. It’s definitely a questionable pillow design, but then again, many guling Pokemon pillows are sold without issue. At this rate, we should be questioning anything that’s cylindrical shaped.
