Niantic decided to do an overnight update for Pokemon Go last night for some bug fixes. Upon further review of the update, it’s very unclear what bugs were actually fixed. There are currently numerous bugs plaguing Pokemon Go right now, from the “green screen issue” during Raid Battles to the avatar bug that many people are seeing. Niantic did not come right out and say what has been fixed and even dataminers are unable to come up with anything for the time being.
The most dateminers have found so far surround minor changes to the resolution of certain image assets. Over 160 images were changed in the update, but it’s difficult to differentiate the old images from the new ones. Since Niantic decided to sneak the update in overnight and provided minimal details, I’m assuming that no major bugs were addressed in the update. Hopefully Niantic figures out a way to fix some of the serious problems within the next few days, otherwise their game might be losing a chunk of its playerbase.
We know that big changes are coming to Pokemon Go pretty soon, which include the Halloween event, EX Raids, PvP battles, and trading, but Niantic needs to fix the game before they start introducing anything new. While the Halloween event and EX Raids will be here pretty soon, we’re going to be waiting a while before trainer battles and trading come to the game. They are still a part of Niantic’s long-term plan, but there is no time frame for their launch just yet.
