Pakistan’s cyber security agency has declared a warning for any official playing Pokemon GO. The agency claims to have noticed several threats. Among them are the app’s use of GPS and phone cameras with no guarantees that data is not being recorded and stored. That’s nothing surprising. Many people, businesses, and governments have raised concerns over privacy and security. However, there is supposedly another reason behind the warning as well.
Addiction. The claim is that Pokemon GO is addictive. And not just a little. Not “I like chocolate” level of addiction. It appears that addiction is taking the blame for some of the game’s real world issues. Specifically, the cause the injuries and accidents.
From this, the agency recommends that government officials and their families refrain from downloading and playing the game. They seem to stop short of banning the app altogether.Whether or not this warning has had any effect is yet to be seen.
