To celebrate the new Chinese New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Pig, Niantic is launching a new Pokémon GO Lunar New Year event. For the next several days, a surplus of particular Pokémon will appear in the world.
Starting today, the event lasts until February 13, 2019, till 1 PM PST. During this time, Rattata, Ekans, Mankey, Ponyta, Electabuzz, Dratini, Mareep, Miltank, Torchic, Poochyena, Spoink, and Buneary will appear more frequently than normal. And if you’re lucky, you might come across a shiny Spoink!
If you hadn’t guessed, each Pokémon correlates with one of the animals in the Chinese calendar.
To further reward players, during that 10-day span of time, trainers will receive double catching experience, double evolving experience, and increased chances of traded Pokémon being lucky.
