The first live event for Pokemon Go that is being held in Chicago just recently sold out of tickets. You could purchase them online yesterday, and after opening, the tickets were completely gone after about 15 minutes. Niantic was asking for $20 per ticket for Pokemon Go Fest, and it looks like you can still get one. The only major downside is, there is absolutely no way you’ll get one even remotely close to $20.
People that wanted to attend the event found out shortly after the tickets sold out that people were reselling their tickets on eBay. Most tickets on sites like eBay and Craigslist are currently going for around $300 per ticket, which is really ridiculous. I can’t say that it was unexpected though. There are a lot of people, especially people that use eBay, that will go buy a large amount of tickets and resell them. If you were to buy 15 tickets for $20 and sell 1 ticket for $300, you’ve already made your money back. Sell 2 and you’ve doubled your cash, and if you somehow manage to sell all 15, you’ve made yourself an extra $4,200 dollars once you subtract the original $300 you spent.
That’s a pretty good return on investments. There is even a ticket available right now that has an asking price of $800 or best offer, which I’m assuming, will not sell for $800. They will, however, make a profit as it will certainly sell for over $20. People are going absolutely crazy for this event, and if a player ends up spending $300 on a ticket, I really hope they have free food or drinks once they get there.
