Niantic has released the new Gym system, and everybody already knows about that. It’s basically all people have been talking about in the Pokemon Go world, but I feel like it already needs to be reworked. Some of the changes that were made just don’t make sense to me. My main point here is surrounding the new coin and stardust system. Before the update, people could make an extreme amount of coins and stardust every day, so I understand how it has to be dialed back a bit. However, the update has cut it down by so much that it’s barely worth it anymore.
The most a Pokemon can earn in one day at a Gym is 50 coins. That’s a fair amount, but these coins can only be obtained when the Pokemon returns home. If you have a Pokemon sitting in a gym for a week, it will have the 50 coins and stop accumulating any more over time. After one full day, you basically just sit there and hope your Pokemon gets kicked out so you can put it somewhere else and earn more coins.
Additionally, let’s say that you have 5 Pokemon at 5 different Gyms. So far, it sounds pretty good. Now let’s say that they all get their 50 coins because they survived a full day, which is also awesome. Now you have 250 coins that you’re waiting to come back to you. You can only receive 50 coins per day from Pokemon though, so if by some stroke of luck all of your Pokemon get kicked out on the same day, you will gain 50 coins and lose 200. That just doesn’t seem fair to me and I’m really hoping that Niantic has a way where each Pokemon can make 50 a day and you can claim the coins remotely. Doubt that’s going to happen though.
