With the new Pokemon Go gym update, Niantic has revealed that they will also be releasing raid bosses. These bosses will be extremely powerful Pokemon that will take over gyms in the area from time to time. Players must band together and fight these Pokemon in order to have the chance to capture it. When I say powerful, I mean incredibly strong. These things are going to have over 25,000 CP and you’re going to need all the help you can get to take them down.
One thing that was strange about the raid boss announcement was the lack of legendary Pokemon. They didn’t mention the world “legendary” once in the entire announcement, which really leaves me scratching my head. I mean, this would be the perfect way to bring legendaries to the game. People wouldn’t have to travel all over the world to attend events and capture them, they would only spawn in every once in a while, and people in the area would have to work together to capture them. It seems like the best tool they could ever implement.
We know that legendary Pokemon are coming this Summer, and I was really hoping that Niantic would just come out and say that this is how they’re going to work. If Niantic ends up doing worldwide events, like the event in Chicago, in order to catch legendaries, a lot of people are going to be upset. Hopefully they use the raid boss system to announce legendaries, but we just don’t know for sure yet.
