Is Pokemon GO just a brilliant way to invade our privacy? Social media and news outlets everywhere seem to think it might. Hell, I’ve personally seen this gem a couple of times on my feed.
It is mind boggling to imagine the idea. And now, it’s being taken another step forward. At Comic-Con, Oliver Stone called Pokemon GO the “new level of invasion.” He says we’re all being data mined all the time now. I’m not entirely sure why he thinks that’s Pokemon GO’s fault. The government can already get everything need need from our phones as it is. Finally, he warned that it will lead to a society of robots. Ummm, okay? I guess soon, we will all be Pokemon GO-bots.
Hasn’t this gone a bit too far? The issue of privacy doesn’t depend on a Pokemon game. A company made and sold a product that there was a demand for. I’m not saying that fighting for privacy is a dumb quest. I’m just saying that it’s a fight best directed elsewhere.
