Unfortunate news comes to Pokémon GO trainers on iOS. Developer Niantic has announced that they will be ending support for the Apple Watch at the end of this month.
The information is detailed in a support page on Niantic’s website. They explain that the Adventure Sync feature essentially renders the watch app moot.
Because Adventure Sync allows Trainers the option of tracking their steps, earning Buddy Candy, and hatching Eggs in one mobile device rather than 2 separate devices, we want to focus on building Adventure Sync so that Trainers will no longer have to split their gameplay between 2 devices.
When put that way, it makes sense.
Apple Watch users will no longer be able to connect to Pokémon GO on July 1, 2019. User should be sure to enable Adventure Sync so that they can continue to receive the benefits of walking with their watches on.
