Big changes are coming to Pokémon GO, but not in the way it usually does. Usually there are new creatures to find or events to participate in, And while there still are, that’s not the main focus. Starting soon, Pokémon GO will be raising the level cap to 50.
Over the week of November 30, 2020 (going until Dec 7, presumably), Niantic will be raising the level cap from 40 to 50, and implementing a new Season system to how events are handled.
New Level Cap
When Pokémon GO launched, it had a level cap of 40. This is how it’s been ever since. But a lot has changed since then. So Niantic decided that leveling needs to be reworked and rebalanced.
For those at level 40, you will be able to level up to 50 now. It won’t be easy though. For those under 40, you will see the opposite: it’ll be easier to level up than before.
Pokémon GO Seasons
Just like in the real world, the world of Pokémon GO will now have seasons. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, each lasting three months long, will feature unique Pokémon, events, and seasonal variations.
Kalos Pokémon Are Coming
In Pokémon GO’s ongoing efforts to catch up with the massive list of pocket monsters, Kalos region Pokémon will start appearing in the wild. This region is where the Pokémon X and Y games take place, with many France-inspired Pokémon living therein.
This is a lot to encounter at once. Keep your eyes open for these changes in the first week of December. And remember to adhere to whatever local pandemic restrictions may be in place where you live.
