Remember how Pokemon GO got really popular in the Summer? As in, so popular that we all took to the streets in attempts to catch ’em all? Also, remember how Apple didn’t even list Pokemon GO on their top ten list only a couple months later? Well, there’s at least a silver lining to that mistake. Pokemon GO is now officially the most downloaded iOS app of 2016.

Pokemon GO may not have gotten the recognition it deserved earlier in the year, but this is an exciting honor itself. While pay-to-win games like Clash of Clans get all of the money, Pokemon GO will have to settle for popularity.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last bit of good news for Pokemon GO. 2017 could easily be either a great or lackluster year for the hit game. Considering that trading, battling, and all of Generation 2 are likely coming up, I think the former is more likely.
