As the year comes to a close, it’s important to keep something in mind. It’s getting colder. It’s going to stay cold. Also there are still fun, Pokemon events and experiences ahead of us. While the Winter likely won’t see as many trainers as the Summer did, there are still plenty of us who want to stay ahead of the curve. It’s still perfectly fine to play Pokemon GO as it gets cold out. However, there are certain things you should remember before you head out.
First, if you have to drive to your favorite nest, be wary of road conditions. Icy roads can be extremely dangerous and sneaky. The same is actually true if you’re walking too. It may not kill you to slip on a frozen sidewalk, but you’re sure to get hurt in one way or another.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need the occasional break. In the Summer, we needed them in order to cool down and re-hydrate. In the Winter, we need them to warm up and re-hydrate. All because it’s cold doesn’t mean you can forego the liquids. Physical activity can make you sweat regardless of the temperature.
You also need to keep in mind that the sun is still shining. It does help that you’ll be wearing warm layers while you’re out and about. But as far as your face, hands, and any other exposed flesh, that can all get pretty heinous sun burns if you don’t watch it. The UV rays that fry your flesh are still around in the Winter time.
Last, you need to keep an eye on the forecast. Winter storms can quickly turn a fun walk into a bad time. Make sure you’re prepared for what’s coming by taking a glance at the upcoming weather. And always give yourself plenty of extra time to get home. Storms often have a tendency to come early.
Of course, there are more things to keep in mind in order to stay safe in the Winter. For the most part, use good judgement and be aware of what’s around you. Catching Pokemon in the Winter can definitely be a fun experience. Just make sure you stay safe as well.
