One of the most and longest requested features may be making it’s way to Pokémon Go in the near future. Get ready for player vs player battles!
Niantic’s head of marketing Anne Beuttenmüller recently spoke with Polish new site Gram regarding what to expect for the game toward the back end of 2018. Beuttenmüller stated that PVP was indeed one of their goals,
“We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode.” (translated)
Beuttenmüller went on to explain that Niantic is looking to improve their recently implemented friend system. Currently, you can register friends using a code, allowing you to raise your friendship level by trading, gifting, and participating in raids together. Beuttenmüller says that they’d like to add a segregation system to organize your friends, as well as a note feature.
“The point is that you can have many people on your friends list and do not remember who is who.”
Lastly, she confirmed that new Pokémon will be added to the game in the future. But she spoke nothing more of it beyond that.
