After years of being one of the biggest mobile game of all time, Pokémon GO is finally getting a collaboration with the official Pokémon Trading Card Game!
Announced on the Pokémon GO Live Blog, they’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green games. The two games were the beginning of the video game franchise, releasing in 1996 for the original Game Boy.
It begins this summer, where Professor Willow will be released as a Trading Card. The launch of this card will align with the five-year release of the Pokémon GO app. The card will be obtainable wherever the trading cards are sold. Details about the card, such as official art and abilities, will be revealed in Late May of this year.
While this isn’t the full extent of the collaboration, this is all that Niantic has revealed at this time. They assure us that they “will make announcements as further collaborations are determined.” So all we can do now is wait.
