For a few weeks now, players have only been receiving 2 items each time they visit a PokeStop. Seeing as how these stops usually dish out three to five items, it’s pretty obvious that there is an issue here. Niantic has taken the blame for the problem, and on October 11 an update was pushed on to Pokemon Go which has helped the majority of users dealing with the lowered drop amounts. Although Niantic is acting like the problem has been resolved, there are still a number of players who are getting 2 items per PokeStop.
The topic has been spread all over Reddit and players have been posting up a lot of info about their profiles and habits while playing the game. After looking over the data, there are not any clear similarities between all of the users that could be causing this problem. One main concern was regarding the lower amounts of items being a punishment for certain players who hit multiple PokeStops that have a great distance between them in a short period of time. This could happen if a player hits several PokeStops on the way to work. Clearly they aren’t walking from PokeStop to PokeStop, and perhaps Niantic sees this as an unfair advantage over users who need to walk.
Although that would be a very good explanation for the continued issues, it appears as though that is not the case. If you are one of the players that still receives 2 items per PokeStop, there isn’t anything you can do. You aren’t being punished and you just have to wait for Niantic to buckle down and fix their game.
