Pokemon GO has had plenty of new updates. Also, there are tons more on the way. Nearly every week, Niantic seems to release more, new plans for future updates. Even big ones. They’ve been teasing battling and trading since launch. But what about the next generation?

As of now, there is no official word when the Pokemon from Gold and Silver will find their way onto Pokemon GO. Given how successful the game has been, it’s almost a sure bet that it will happen at some point. The most likely scenario is that it will launch sometime in 2017. But even that timeline makes things pretty tight. Ideally, battling and trading will launch before generation 2. On top of that, what about legendary Pokemon? Surely Niantic wouldn’t add over one hundred new Pokemon before even finishing the original 151, right? Right?
