Pokemon GO has been plagued by horrible tracking systems. They ranged from “not working” to “not working at all.” Lately, though, they’ve tried to fix things. They had a “last seen” feature that showed what other trainers in the area have found. However, they scrapped that for the newest tracker that’s entirely based on Pokestops. That means it works great for dense urban areas, but rural residents are kind of screwed over.
Cities have plenty of Pokestops, so the tracking works like a dream there. It even adds a little map marker if you click on the Pokemon you want to track. The country, however, doesn’t have a lot of Pokestops. They can often be several miles apart across winding roads. So, of course, this leads to a lot of controversy. It goes without saying that rural based players aren’t exactly pleased with the update. Hopefully in the future, we can swap between the new tracker and the old “last seen” ones. Don’t hold your breath, though.
