There’s Something Missing
If you’ve been playing Pokemon Go, and investing copious amounts of time catching and training pokemon, you’ll be disappointed to know that’s all the game will be until Niantic releases more lore and story.
According to Niantic CEO John Hanke, the mobile game’s lore may be expanded in the next few months, but it’s not a priority for the developer. As of this point, the team is small and can only do so much at one time. Despite the giant following, they’re only capable of launching a few events and updates at a time.
Understandable, yet depressing, isn’t it?
What To Expect
Right now, there’s talk of a trading system and some major updates for the game this year. Story and lore are not a part of the big announcements.
What we do know, however, is a sliver of lore. According to Hanke, there’s three primary teams: Valor, Mystic and Instinct. Their relationships to each other, and Pokemon Professor Willow are still unknown.
