Pokemon Go was created to help people exercise in a new and fun way. Well, by adding Raids to the game, Pokemon Go might be losing focus on their main goal. Sure, they want their playerbase to increase since Niantic has seen a giant loss of players, but at what cost? At this point, the main purpose of Pokemon Go could be fading away as people are able to claim high level Pokemon extremely easily.
Just so everybody is fully aware, I love the new Raids. I think they’re a ton of fun and they obviously make it easy to get incredible Pokemon, but that’s not the purpose of Pokemon Go. Take, for example, the Buddy System. That system was implemented so players could walk a ton with a Pokemon, while also getting materials to evolve said Pokemon. Now, all a player has to do is wait for a raid, catch a Tyranitar, and that’s it. You get candies for catching it, you can still walk around with it to get more, and if you wait for another Tyranitar Raid you can just stockpile even more candy.
There is almost no reason to go out and walk around, unless you’re trying to fill up your Pokedex, or walk to the nearest Raid. Niantic should either make Raids happen way less frequently, or increase the rewards for the Buddy System. If things keep going in this direction, the Buddy System will be wiped out within a few months, as it will no longer serve a useful purpose in the game.
