The final Hoenn Legendary had made their way to Pokemon GO. Rayquaza, the flying- and dragon-type legendary Pokemon and focus Pokemon Emerald, will appear in raid battles starting today (February 9).
Announced by Niantic yesterday, they said that Rayquaza will only be available until March 16. It will be taking place of Kyogre, the water type legendary of the same generation. Though since Kyogre doesn’t disappear until the 14th, you will have a solid 5 days overlap.
In Rayquaza’s wake also come a few more third-gen Pokemon. If the image is any indicator, these Pokemon will be Salamence, Tropius, and Chimecho. Tropius is one of my favorites from gen 3. He’s a giant tree dinosaur that grows bananas from his ears and can fly; whats not to love?
To encourage the acquisition of more 3rd gen Pokemon, Niantic has stated that all Pokemon you encounter in the wild between now and the 13th will only be from Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire.
This leaves Jirachi and Deoxys as the only remaining 3rd gen legendaries to be included, as well as a small number of remaining “normal” Pokemon. Hopefully, this means 4th gen Pokemon won’t be too far away.
