A new phone is exciting. But new technology comes with new problems. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note20, you might not be able to play Pokémon GO!
Samsung’s latest smartphone, the Note20, just hit the markets. And while it’s certainly impressive, it comes with one potential issue for trainers like us: it can’t play Pokémon GO. According to various user reports online, the game will freeze and become unplayable a few seconds after loading up the map.
This might actually sound familiar. When the same company released the Galaxy S20 in March, it had the same problem. It took Niantic about a month to patch the game in a way that supported the new platform, leaving anyone with that phone out of the game for the duration.
The good news is that this means they’re familiar with the problem and should be able to issue a fix quickly. At least we hope so. Otherwise, we’d advise any avid GO trainers thinking about getting the new smart device to wait until a patch has been confirmed. Or at least keep their old phone to play the game on until then.
