As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, it has been confirmed that a Halloween event will be coming to Pokemon Go once again this year. Seeing as how the event last year brought the game back to the top of the iPhone charts and increased user engagement by a large amount, it only makes sense that they would hold the event annually. That being said, The Pokemon Company did have an interesting statement on their website regarding the event:
“The Halloween season is a special time in Pokemon Go. Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can’t wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokemon to fill out our Pokedex.”
The key part of that statement being, “…catching new Pokemon to fill out our Pokedex.” This can be taken in two different ways. It could just be regarding Pokemon that are currently in the game, but some players might not have encountered them yet. For example, if I don’t have a Ghastly and I catch one during the event, I technically “caught a new Pokemon” even though it has been in the game since launch.
The other way to take it (and the way that I’m taking it) is implying that they’re adding new Pokemon this Halloween. This has already been hinted at multiple times and players are definitely hoping for some more monsters coming at the end of October. Again, this has not been confirmed in any way, but the hints being thrown around are definitely raising some eyebrows. Hopefully we see some generation 3 Pokemon later on this month, but for now we just have to sit and wait.
