Developers Niantic has introduced a new update to the hit mobile game, allowing a new variety of Pokémon to appear in the world: Themed Lures!
Now, trainers will be able to use three upgraded lure modules, the Glacial Lure Modules, Mossy Lure Modules, and Magnetic Lure Modules. These special variations will attract Pokémon like usual, but they will also create a special environment surrounding the area. The Glacial Lure Module will attract more Ice-Type Pokémon, for example.
- Glacial Lure Module: Attracts Water and Ice-Type Pokémon
- Mossy Lure Module: Attracts Bug, Grass, and Poison-Type Pokémon
- Magnetic Lure Module: Attracts Electric, Steel, and Rock-Type Pokémon
The special Lures are also an important part of certain Pokémon evolutions. Depending on the type, a lure might allow users to evolve their Pokémon, such as Nosepass. It will also unlock the option to Eevee to evolve into new varieties. To enable this, spin the disc of a PokéStop that has the relevant Lure Module on it.
Special Lures can be obtained via the in-game shop and as rewards for Special Research tasks.
Additional Changes
Along with these lures, Pokémon GO will be adding even more Gen 4 Pokémon to the overall roster. Keep an eye out for “Cherubi, Gible, Hippopotas, and others.” They can be found both in the wild and from eggs.
A new battle move has been added, as well. Introducing Earth Power. This powerful Ground-Type move deals damage while lowering the opponent’s defense. Expect to see this move on strong Groud-Type Pokémon, like Camerupt, Claydol, and more.
Other Pokémon that could know Earth Power include Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Aerodactyl, Camerupt, and Claydol.
Updates like this are what keeps a game fresh and alive.
