In a tragic accident this week, a 9-year-old boy was struck by a truck while the driver was distracted by Pokemon GO. Fourth grader, Keita Noritake, was on his way home from school on Wednesday when the truck hit him. Noritake was pronounced dead two hours later.
Aichi Prefectural Police arrived on the scene and arrested the driver of the truck, Nobusuke Kawai. The 36-year-old driver admitted to playing the game instead of paying attention to the road.
Despite warning across the globe to play Pokemon GO responsibly, it is terrible to see such accidents still happening. Pokemon GO can be a great opportunity to go out and have a great time, alone or with friends. However, like with everything else, it’s important to stay safe while playing it. These accidents can be easily avoided. Be smart and be thoughtful in your travels.
