Violence broke out recently in Kirkwood, Missouri over Pokémon Go. A 71-year-old man and his adult sun assaulted another player after being accused of cheating and having trash thrown at them, according to local police.
According to a video submitted to local authorities, the victim approached the two men in their vehicle. They then accused them of cheating at a local gym and threw a Gatorade bottle into their vehicle. This prompted the pair to exit the vehicle and attack the man. They two men found the victim, threw the bottle back at him, and one held him down while the other struck him repeatedly.
St. Louis County prosecutors filed charges against the two men on Tuesday, where they each face assault in the third degree. The victim has suffered cuts to his face, a “traumatic” eye injury and a broken fingertip, charges say.
This is a perfect example of how people will get too angry at something as small as a mobile game. While we all understand the frustration of someone “stealing” a gym out from under us, The victim’s behavior was totally unacceptable. The two men obviously took it way too far, as well. rude players should never result in violence.
Just be cool, y’all.
