Surprising literally no one, the Pentagon has not approved Pokemon GO use inside the building. This is not so much a paranoid fear as it is a proactive move. According to an anonymous source to the Washington Times, there are concerns about the GPS tracking. In the wrong hands, that kind of information could be used to ferret out where sensitive and confidential information is stored or discussed.
Another concern is that it may be used to figure out who has access to restricted areas. That brings a whole new level to security as well as the safety of government employees. And the government is serious about it too. At Pokemon GO’s launch, there was supposedly a gym located at the Pentagon that has mysteriously disappeared since. Other than potential use inside the Pentagon, officials have taken no stance against the app itself.
