Some of the biggest companies in the world like to have a lot of fun on April Fools’ Day. That’s especially true for entertainment companies. So it’s interesting to think about what Pokemon GO may want to do for the holiday. There are a couple of reasons why Niantic Labs should be strongly considering an event to celebrate the holiday. First, the occasional event has done wonders for their user base. Second, a Google April Fools’ event from years ago accidentally teased the game in the first place.

But what could Pokemon GO do for April Fools’ Day this year? One common idea going around is that all spawning Pokemon will be replaced with Magikarp. Another fun situation involves swarming the game with rare and legendary Pokemon, just for all of them to transform into Dittos. I’d say the latter would be the better joke.

Regardless of what they do, here’s hoping that they at least do something. There’s just too much potential here.
