Niantic hasn’t been the best company to rely on to make an amazing game. Pokemon Go is loaded with bugs and with recent events like Pokemon Go Fest, it’s easy to write the company off. For some reason, their profits are soaring sky-high right now. In fact, they just had their most profitable day since the game’s launch last year. Throughout all of the chaos going through the game right now, how could this possibly be happening?
It’s all because of proper in-game items being released at the right time. Take the Raid Pass for example. Before the Raid Pass was introduced to the game, people didn’t really have anything to consistently buy. If you’re close to several PokeStops, you never had to worry about stocking up on PokeBalls, potions, or any of the small stuff. Incense isn’t worth the money at all, and players know that. The other thing is incubators, and although they can be useful, people really only need to buy them after incredibly long walks.
Now that Legendaries are in the game, people are trying to hit every single Raid possible. Whether it’s to catch the Pokemon for the first time, or just to get more candy, players want these Legendaries. The game only gives you one Raid Pass per day, and if you live around many gyms, those Raid Passes in the store can be extremely enticing. At only 100 coins, what’s stopping you from buying one? And another? And another?
Suddenly, you find that you’ve purchased 8 Raid Passes, but it’s fine. I mean, you’re going to probably use them right up. Niantic is swimming in money right now because of this. They created the perfect way to gather all of your money up, and they barely had to do a thing.
