I recently wrote an article on the anti-spoofing measures that Niantic was putting into place. This included the different IV and Movesets of Pokemon in the wild. In the past few days, it seems as though people might be leaning toward a different theory. While this tactic does deter users from spoofing, it might also be involved in an upcoming event. As I’ve mentioned before, Niantic is planning on stepping things up this summer to get more people back to playing Pokemon Go. The new thought behind this IV change is that top-tier trainers will have increased chances of finding shiny Pokemon.
While this is not confirmed, a lot of players and researchers have been talking about this possibility. Niantic has also been talking about the release of much more shiny Pokemon into the wild for people to find. When you take both of these situations and mix them together, it’s very plausible that Niantic could be using shinies as a reward system. The more you play and the better you do, the higher chance of you finding a shiny Pokemon.
There’s still a lot more research that needs to be done and I’m sure as the countdown to summer gets shorter and shorter more information will be revealed. For now, we just have to sit back and wait. However, if you really believe that this is what’s in store, maybe you should get out there and try to bring your trainer level up a bit in preparation!
