Veteran Pokémon trainers know how much of a pain EX Raid battles can be. These exclusive gym battles have been even more of a hassle this week when some updates caused confusing. Niantic says this is the result of a bug.
“With the latest batch of EX Raid Battle invites, we implemented a few changes to improve Trainer and Gym selection. Unfortunately, a bug was introduced when these changes were made, and, as a result, some Trainers were invited to participate in an EX Raid Battle at a Gym they may not have visited in several months.”
Over the last week, players were receiving invites to participate in EX Raid battles. Except instead of being invited to the nearby gyms they visit daily, they were invited to gyms that they may have only visited once. For some, this would be gyms they once stopped at while on vacation a thousand miles away from home.
Niantic stated that the issues have since been resolved, and those receiving EX Raid passes should be getting ones more fitting for their daily gaming habits. They also detailed some upcoming changes to the EX Raid system.
One of 2 major tweaks is an increase in qualifying gyms. You don’t want to be inviting people to go crowd a graveyard, so gyms that qualify for EX Raid battles have been limited to public parks and sponsored locations. Soon it will expand their selection. They also stated that more trainers will be receiving invites to EX Raid battles.
Currently, we still don’t know what it takes to be selected for an EX Raid. So we still have to take their word for it that more people will be getting in. I know I still haven’t received and EX Raid pass. Not that I’m bitter or anything.
